What Is My Hydration Score?

Your Hydration Score reflects how well-hydrated your body is, based on the concentration and composition of your urine. It helps you see how your body maintains balance and how small daily choices affect your hydration rhythm over time.

Understanding Your Hydration Score

Every time you use your Throne, the device analyzes your urine to estimate its osmolality, which refers to the concentration of dissolved particles such as salts and electrolytes.

Osmolality is one of the most direct and reliable indicators of hydration.

Throne translates that complex data into a single, easy-to-read Hydration Score. This score allows you to see your fluid balance clearly, without needing to guess based on thirst or urine color alone.

Your score is meant to build awareness, not judgment. It is a reflection of how your body manages hydration in real time.

Your Hydration Dashboard

Throne offers a dedicated hydration dashboard that provides you with detailed insights into your hydration habits and overall urinary health. Tapping on any of the graphs brings you to the detailed trend views where you can explore the various metrics with different time durations and dates.

How The Score Works

Your Hydration Score is measured on a scale from 0 to 120%.

  • Fluid Overload (>100%) suggests over-hydration with an osmolality of less than 300 mOsm/kg.

  • Hydrated (85-100) suggests optimal hydration with an osmolality of 300-600mOsm/kg.

  • Thirsty (61-85) suggests mild dehydration with an osmolatlity of 600-900mOsm/kg.

  • Dehydrated (31-60) suggests dehydrated with an osmolality of 900-1200mOsm/kg.

  • Critical (0-30) suggests severe dehydration with an osmolality of 1200mOsm/kg.

Higher scores indicate that your urine is more diluted (i.e. clear pee), which suggests your body is well-hydrated.

Lower scores indicate that your urine is more concentrated (i.e. yellow pee), which suggests your body may need more fluids.

Over time, Throne establishes a dynamic baseline that adapts to you. Instead of relying on universal averages, your Throne learns what your personal hydration normal looks like.

Things To Know About Hydration Score

  • Most Recent Data: The hydration score you see on the dashboard reflects the information from your most recent bathroom visit using your Throne.

  • Daily Reset: Your hydration score resets each day, giving you a fresh start every morning. If you haven't used your Throne on a particular day, your hydration score will show no data for that day.

  • No On-the-Go Data: To get hydration readings, you need to use your Throne device. The device analyzes your urine each time you use the bathroom. We don't capture hydration data when you're away from your Throne.

What Influences Your Hydration Score

Your hydration status changes throughout the day. Several factors can influence your score, including:

  • Fluid intake: How much and how often you drink water or other fluids

  • Diet: High-sodium or high-protein foods can affect hydration balance

  • Activity level: Exercise, heat, and sweat all influence fluid loss

  • Sleep and recovery: Water loss continues overnight through breathing and temperature regulation

  • Supplements and medications: Some ingredients can temporarily affect urine color or composition

By tracking these patterns, you begin to see how lifestyle, environment, and routine interact with your body’s hydration balance.

Why Hydration Matters

Hydration supports nearly every system in your body, from digestion and temperature control to focus and recovery. Even small changes in fluid balance can affect how you feel and function throughout the day.

Your Hydration Score helps you:

  • Notice early signs of dehydration before they are noticeable

  • Understand how habits such as sleep, diet, and exercise influence hydration

  • Build steady awareness of your body’s natural rhythm

As you continue using Throne, you may begin to see how small changes, such as drinking water earlier in the day or rehydrating after a workout, lead to measurable differences in how stable your score feels.

Tips For Using Your Hydration Score

  • Check your daily average: Use your Throne regularly to build a consistent pattern.

  • Focus on long-term trends: Your hydration naturally fluctuates. What matters most is your personal normal.

  • Stay balanced: Drinking too much water can also dilute electrolytes. Aim for stability, not volume.

  • Combine insights: View your Hydration Score alongside other data such as frequency and timing to understand your full hydration pattern.

Taking Action With Awareness

Your Hydration Score is not about perfection. It is about connection. It gives you a quiet feedback loop between what you drink and how your body responds.

Whether your score is higher or lower on a given day, what matters most is awareness. By paying attention, you learn your body’s cues and develop small habits that keep you feeling steady, alert, and balanced.

Monitoring Hydration Helps You Stay Healthy

By combining these metrics, Throne's hydration dashboard offers a holistic view of your urinary health and hydration status. This comprehensive approach allows you to:

  • Correlate hydration levels with urination frequency and patterns

  • Understand how your fluid intake affects your daily and nightly bathroom habits

  • Identify potential health issues before they become serious problems

  • Make data-driven decisions about your fluid intake, diet, and daily habits

Remember, while your Hydration metrics provide valuable insights, they should be used in conjunction with professional medical advice for any health concerns. Your Throne dashboard is a powerful tool for monitoring your health, but it's not a substitute for regular check-ups with your healthcare provider.

By regularly reviewing your hydration dashboard, you're taking an active role in managing your health and well-being. Use these insights to stay hydrated, improve your sleep quality, and maintain optimal urinary health!
