Hands-Free Mode uses Bluetooth to detect when you are near your Throne device and automatically capture sessions.
For this to work consistently, your phone must allow the Throne app to:
Access location permissions
Use Bluetooth
Run in the background
If these settings are disabled, Hands-Free Mode may stop detecting sessions automatically.
Why These Settings Matter
Hands-Free Mode relies on Bluetooth Low Energy detection running in the background.
Both iOS and Android require additional permissions for apps to scan for nearby Bluetooth devices reliably.
Without these permissions:
Sessions may not start automatically
Sessions may be missed
Hands-Free detection may stop working entirely
Recommended Settings for iPhone (iOS)
To fully enable Hands-Free Mode on iPhone:
Enable Location Access
Open Settings
Tap Apps
Select Throne
Tap Location
Select Always
Ensure Precise Location is On
. 
This allows iOS to detect your Throne device in the background.
Note: Please ensure that Precise Location remains turned on for the most consistent hands-free mode experience.
Enable Bluetooth
Bluetooth must remain turned on for Hands-Free Mode to function.
If Bluetooth is disabled, the Throne app will display a warning message until it is turned back on.
Recommended Settings for Android
To fully enable Hands-Free Mode on Android:
Enable Location Access
Open Settings
Tap Apps
Tap All Apps
Select Throne Science App
Tap Permissions
Tap Location
Select Allow all the time
This allows Android to detect your Throne device.
Enable Nearby Devices Permission
Open Settings
Tap Apps
Tap All Apps
Select Throne Science App
Tap Permissions
Enable Nearby devices permission
This allows Android to communicate with your Throne device over Bluetooth.
Allow Background Usage
Open Settings
Tap Apps
Tap All Apps
Select Throne Science App
Tap App battery usage
Enable Allow background usage
This prevents Android from stopping Hands-Free detection when the app is not actively open.
What Happens If These Settings Are Disabled?
If required permissions are missing:
Hands-Free Mode may remain enabled but stop detecting sessions
The Throne app may display warning banners
Automatic session capture may become inconsistent
On iPhone, permission warnings remain visible until the required settings are restored.
