Before You Start
You’ll need:
Your Throne One device connected to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (Step 1 complete)
An activated Throne Membership (Step 2 complete)
The Throne app installed and open on your phone
Bluetooth and Location Services enabled or be prepared to enable
Hands-free mode allows your Throne to automatically recognize you and record sessions without button presses or manual logging required.
Ensure Enabled Permissions
Hands-free mode uses Bluetooth and low-energy location signals from your phone to detect when you’re near your Throne.
When prompted in the app, you’ll be asked to allow two permissions:
Bluetooth Access - so the app can detect and communicate with your Throne.
Always Allow Location Access - required by iOS to maintain a Bluetooth connection in the background.
Tap Allow Bluetooth Access when prompted.
Tap Allow Always when the app requests Location Access.
You’ll see confirmation messages once both permissions are active.
Note: If you accidentally choose “Allow While Using the App,” you can fix it anytime:
Go to Settings → Throne → Location → Always.
Install Throne On The Edge Of The Toilet
Place your Throne device on either the left or right side of your toilet bowl.
Lift the toilet seat all the way up.
Push the wings outward and secure the Throne unit so the camera faces directly down into the toilet bowl (as shown in the Throne app).
Tap Continue in the app once your device is in position.
Your Throne should be securely fixed and stable before continuing.
Test Your Connection
Once permissions and installation are complete, test your Throne’s hands-free detection:
Walk out of the room and away from your Throne device.
Tap Continue in the Throne app.
Walk back toward the toilet. You’ll see the Throne detect your presence and start a session automatically.
Step away again and watch the device end the session and turn off.
When the indicator light turns off, your Throne has successfully completed the hands-free test.
You’re now all set for seamless, effortless use whenever you’re near your Throne.
Confirm Setup Complete
Tap Done in the app.
